About Us

I always get asked the same few questions by our lovely customers. Is someone here German? Why did you choose to do German Food? Can you speak German? Why did you pick Parker for your location? The answers are our Story. In 1999 I opened a Stained Glass Shop here on River Ave. When the bar next door went up for sale, in 2001, we decided to buy it to turn it into more of a restaurant with a bar, one of my husband Gary’s dreams. As we were choosing menu items, Gary would tell me, oh you have to put this on the menu or, oh you have to put that on the menu. They were some of his favorite dishes that I made. All these foods were German, and the German Theme was born.

I was born and raised in the Troy Hill & Mt. Troy area of Pittsburgh, above the H.J. Heinz Plant. Almost everyone on the Hill was German, and that is where my German cooking style came from. I had 3 sets of Great Grandparents & 1 set of Great Great Grandparents that came over from Germany. My Grandpap Steinmiller tried to teach me to speak the German Language when I was a kid, but I didn’t listen. Oh, how I wish I did! And as for my last question of why I picked Parker, the answer is I didn’t. I believe with all my heart, that the Lord led me here to do something good for this area! We have made some wonderful new friends here and I hope to meet many more of you! God Bless and Thank You for taking some of your time to visit our Website!
